I have pretty much decided that Cali will be my destination for the big move this summer. Jacksonville was/is tempting for many reasons but I feel that selling my house and quitting my job were both big moves...might as well continue with big changes! There are always things that could fall through but I am crossing my fingers all goes according to plan.
As of now I will pack the dog up, clothes (woo hoo...NO SWEATERS or Winter wear!!), the bare essentials and a travel companion (the BEST mom in the world) and head for a trek to sunny San Diego late July..unless I get a job before then and need to go sooner.
I plan to ditch the traditional teaching job for a year and do something different that hopefully still has me working with children in some capacity.
Things I Will Miss About Georgia:
My family (Gran, Mom, and Bro especially)
My best friends (for soooo many reasons!)
My "work" friends (who no longer have that title and have become some of my nearest and dearest)
Chik Fil A on every corner
Leaves changing colors in the fall
Familiar roads, places, etc. (I have lived here my entire life after all)
A comfortable existence in a comfortable job and home
UGA football, Game Day in Athens, and of course...tailgating!
Things I Look Forward to About Cali and the Move:
No cold weather, no snow, and not much rain
Being minutes to the beach!
Wearing flip flops year round (ok so I do that in GA but at least in Cali it will be a little more appropriate)
A change of occupation
Possibly learning to surf
Learning my way around
Living in a city and not a suburb
Meeting new people and making new friends
MEXICAN food :)
Living the SoCal laid back lifestyle
Incorporating dude, gnarly, killer and other Cali verbiage in my daily vocab
I look forward to a fabulous summer in Georgia spent relaxing by the pool/lake with friends and family before I move. I am sure I will find time for a few beach trips and travel as well.
As for now...I have about 9 weeks of work to finish and a Spring Break with my girls to look forward to in about 2 weeks! LIFE IS GOOD.
