Cross Country Trip...Day 1: Nawlins (New Orleans)

One of my favorite quotes from a movie is "Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad but it's what's in the middle that counts the most" That being said...I had the BEST goodbye possible (even though I hate goodbyes) I enjoyed a fabulous night out on Friday with some awesome friends that went well into the morning...I believe the final verdict is we went to bed sometime after 5am. Slept until noon the next day and hung out with my friend Kris and her husband at the pool until about 7pm....all while still needing to finish packing! Avoidance much? That was followed by dinner with my brother, a quick visit with my friend Vicki, and one last stop by Gran's house. Eeesh. I stayed up until about 1am packing, writing thank you notes, and just getting ready. Alarm went off at 5am and we hit the road at 8am sharp!! I do love my schedules :)

The drive to New Orleans was great! A little hot...I think the hottest my car thermometer said was 105!!! We made great time even with frequent stops to walk Roxie and let her stretch her legs. I have to say I was quite impressed with her car etiquette as will admit I did not have much faith in her! Our hotel is very nice and within walking distance to Bourbon Street, the waterfront, and the French Quarter. We enjoyed a great meal at NOLA (Emeril's restaurant) and enjoyed taking in some sights and scenery. However, the humidity here is unreal...it makes Atlanta look great! Tomorrow we will hit the ground running for a trolley tour, some beignets, and just enjoying all the city has to offer. An early night tonight as my mom and I are both lacking sleep and still adjusting to life on the road :)
