What a Weekend!

What a weekend! I had such a wonderful time this weekend hanging out and meeting new people. I have to say I have met some great people who have included me in plans, invited me places, and really made me feel very welcome. Moving to a new city I was most nervous about making friends...not finding a job, not learning my way around etc. but just meeting and making friends. I have had the same friends since middle school and have been lucky enough to make amazing new friends at my old job so I was nervous I would not find that here. I miss my friends terribly but it is good for me to get out there and get a little out of my comfort zone...a big reason for this move. Do stuff I normally wouldn't do or that aren't "easy" for me.

So Friday my friend and new coworker Maria invited me to a party. She picked me up and we headed over to an apt. in PB. It was a lot of fun and I saw some familiar faces and several people who know Jake. I am commonly introduced as "Jake's friend from kindergarten who just moved from ATL" haha...there are far worse ways to be introduced I am sure! We then headed out to a local bar called Longboards (surfer reference of course). It was a great night and I paid heavily for it the next day.

Saturday was recovery for the most part before heading out with my roommate to Del Mar for her friends' bday. We went to a great little mexican cantina with a cool outdoor patio and I enjoyed some "Skinny Girl" margaritas. It was a fun night and great to meet some of her friends.

Sunday I met some people for brunch in my neighborhood at another Mexican placed called Gringos. Theone is my friend Lisa's (worked with her a few years ago at Piney Grove) niece who lives here. It was so fun to meet her and she has been really sweet to contact me and invite me places...it finally worked out for us to meet up! We spent the entire day together enjoying the perfect weather and bar hopping. It was great to try out new places...I am slowly learning where to take my future visitors! I am all about a great ocean view!

So considering it was my 2nd weekend alone in the city and I managed to have plans all 3 days...I am quite pleased :) Jake is gone for the next month so it is really forcing me to get out on my own and find things to do. I actually also joined a softball league on Wednesday nights with my friend Maria. Time to dust off the ole glove and get back into a game I played from age 6-14.

It looks like I will start my job this week for a few days of training...excited to see what that is all about!!! Life is good...missing home of course but loving my new adopted "home" more than I could have ever imagined!
