A Jam Packed, Fun, Busy, and Wonderful Weekend!

Gosh...what an insanely busy weekend. Friday started off hanging out with a big group of girls...some I had met before, some were new! My friend Maria invited me to go out with a large group first to a bar in the Northpark neighborhood called URBN...it was a cool place and we enjoyed a few munchies there and a few drinks. A few of the other girls who went I play softball with on Wednesdays. After URBN we headed to LIPS. It is the local drag queen show/restaurant in San Diego. It was quite amusing and we had such a good time and laughed so much! There was a packed house and so many people celebrating birthdays, bachelorette parties etc. there. It was definitely an interesting night and experience!

Saturday I got up and it was a gorgeous SoCal day so Roxie and I headed to Coronado to hit up dog beach! We also hit up Fiesta Island as well...she was spoiled, spoiled on Saturday. I also finally purchased my Beach Cruiser (bike) that is/was my birthday and Christmas gift from my most fabulous and wonderful (and generous) Gran. My roommate and I headed out to a bike shop for me to look around and ride some. I ended up with a cool, retro mint green cruiser with a white basket and of course....a cute pink bell! Only in SoCal would this be cute and normal to ride around on. Posted a pic. Mine is the one in the front looking all shiny and new :)

Saturday night we headed out for Lauren's birthday. We first went to her friend's apartment for some drinks and appetizers. I whipped up my ever so easy and always crowd favorite cream cheese and pesto dip (Thank you Tracy for teaching me this easy recipe!) It is cream cheese, pesto, tomatoes and mozzarella on top...heated til warm and melted and served with Triscuits. i think I gave the recipe out to most girls who were with us Saturday night. It felt great to be around a group of great girls, chatting, eating, laughing and swapping recipes etc. Lauren made bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese. She showed me this recipe as well and I can't wait to bust it out at Christmas back in ATL. It was so pretty and fancy looking...yet easy as well. We went to a few bars in the Gaslamp district...including a country one! So nice to hear familiar music and not club music techno crap...barf. They even had a bull that you could ride...while none of us indulged...it was fun to watch other drunk people attempt this task. They even televised it in the bar...how embarrassing!!!

Sunday was another great day! 2 of Lauren's friends from Orange County, CA spent the night so we all got up and made a family style breakfast of hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, bacon, and coffee...perfect hangover cure right? They headed back home and Lauren and I headed off on our bikes. We have AMAZING bike trails hear...miles and miles that weave you all around the bay and ocean. It was picture perfect today and so nice to be out riding around. We headed to Mission Beach for lunch at Sandbar and then headed back on the boardwalk into PB and back home again. This will def. be my new activity for the mornings and weekends...poor Roxie will be a little neglected until I get brave enough to try and teach her to ride alongside me. Quite popular with dog owners out here...but not sure I want to be doing all that!!!

The time change is a bummer bc now it is pitch black before 6pm...boo. How depressing to get home in the dark. So even though it might not feel like Fall/Winter out here...getting dark so early definitely reminds me of the fact it is November!

A 4 day work week this week as we have Thursday off for Veteran's Day. However, next week we have "long days" due to Parent/Teacher conferences so I will have five days in a row of working 12-6 :( But...then....a whole week off for Thanksgiving!!!! YAY! November will fly by so, so fast.
