Gosh it seems it was the season that never ended! I was lucky and fortunate enough to be asked to be on a coed softball team one of my first few weeks out here. I have to say...my friend Maria has really been so wonderful at reaching out, including me, making me feel welcome etc. Maybe it is a little bit of karma that I met Maria as I considered (and still consider) myself someone who befriends the "new guy or new girl". I can still remember when my friends Vicki and Ginny both moved to our town and joined our middle school. Not really sure why I always felt like I wanted or had an obligation to be friendly to new people...considering I have never been the new girl until moving to San Diego...but I am glad Maria has done the same for me. She is AWESOME! While I played softball from kindergarten until 8th grade as a child....I was wrong to think I will still be as good as I once was. The season started off a little rusty for myself but overall I wasn't terrible...I did play on a great team, with talented players, and people in far better shape than myself. We even made it to the playoffs! So while it was a wonderful season and great to have something to do on Wednesday nights...I will be sitting the next season out. I will be rooting on the team as they move to a Monday night league and Jake joins the team!! YAY! Roxie and I will head over to Ocean Beach most Mondays to cheer them on and get a little fresh air.
That being said...starting February 8th Jake, my roommate, my friend Alicia, and Jake's friend Ian (along with another guy still TBD) will be participating in a Tuesday night Coed Bowling League. Our team is called the Holy Rollers and I am excited for a fun night out each week of friendly competition and of course...a little beer. The alley is in downtown San Diego and is actually a bar that happens to have some bowling lanes...so a "hip" bowling alley if you will. Maybe all that Wii bowling will come in handy :) It is for 6 weeks so not some huge commitment but something to make the week a little fun and get away from the mundane schedule of work and more work.
Other than that...more of the same! I am loving the warmer weather of the past week or so and Roxie and I are heading to the beach most mornings. Hence all the opportunities for adorable Rox photos.
I continue to enjoy San Diego while missing the comforts of my friends and family from home. People were right when they said I will never regret or look back on this move with regret...I am just trying to take it all in and learn the lessons, gain the experience, and at the end of the day...be a better, stronger, smarter, and more independent person because of this.
