Oh my gosh...I feel like I haven't stopped to take a breathe in nearly 2 weeks...I do love staying busy but I also love my down time and alone time that is for sure! My brother left to head back to Atlanta tonight. He was here for a week and it was such a great visit! We went and did and saw so, so much. From exploring San Diego neighborhoods, sites, beaches, restaurants, to driving up the Cali coast on the PCH, staying in Santa Barbara, visiting the Hearst Castle, checking out Death Valley, seeing snow, and just enjoying spending some quality sibling time together. My brother and I are so close in age and very different people...it has been nice as adults to become close and accept our differences. He is someone I know I can always count on no matter what and such a wonderful example of a big brother. In 5 months of living here I have had my mom, Gran, great Aunt, and brother all come out to visit me....I say it over and over but my family is awesome!
It is kinda a weird feeling knowing I have no plans to go home in the near future. No holidays or trips planned...unless something comes up for Spring Break I think it might be July before I head back. Crazy, crazy. I am hoping my friends Kris and Tracy will head out for a visit in February. It is expensive and quite a trek but I'm hopeful I will have visitors. After all...visiting Jake is how I decided I wanted to move here! Maybe I can convince some other people to do the same! I also headed back to work today. It was fun to see the kids and so cute to hear about their holidays and for them to ask me about mine etc. I am really enjoying my kids more and more and have some great 4th and 5th graders that I really enjoy talking to and getting to know. I am reminded often that working with kids is always refreshing, inspiring, and a worthwhile job/career.
It will be nice to get back into a little bit of a routine and my life in San Diego...the past 2 weeks have been anything but ordinary and routine. I need a solid day spent in pjs, watching tv, drinking coffee, and being a bum :)
