I Always Wanted to Be an Artist...

I am such a wannabe artsy fartsy/creator/crafter. I so wish I had some cool job like a graphic designer...actually my 2 "dream jobs" are illustrating and writing Birthday cards etc. or staging/decorating model homes. Odd I know but both seem so fun to me...oh and naming OPI nail polish. Seriously...people get paid to do that?

Since moving to California I haven't done many craft projects. For a while there back home I was baking a lot, decorating cakes and I always had my house as an outlet for projects, redecorating, gardening etc. I find when I have an creative outlet it brings me a lot of relaxation. One thing I am continuously doing is taking photos. Yes...I am an amateur photographer for sure and barely know how to do much else with my SLR than use it on "Auto" but I like to pretend :) Sailboats, sunsets, flowers, and Roxie are all my favorite subjects to take pictures of. My friends joke because I am always the snap happy one in the group. Yes...I am that annoying person with the camera in your face or the one taking photos when you aren't looking...I have always been a fan of the candid photo over the ones where people are posing and doing awkward things with their hands. haha

So luckily my friend Ginny just painted her daughter's bedroom and is in the process of decorating it...I instantly saw this as an opportunity for a project. I got letters from Michaels and covered them with cute and fun scrapbook paper that coordinates with the colors in her daughter's room. I love how they turned out and it felt great to turn on Pandora and sit at the kitchen table with scissors, glue, and get to work!

Luckily I will be headed to Oregon and Seattle soon where I know endless photo opps will occur...
