Seattle is In Fact...Sunny!

Back home from about a week in Seattle. It was fabulous...as most trips and vacations are :) I had been before in the Winter and while the snow was beautiful...July in Seattle is sooo much better. We woke up each morning to about 60 degree weather that warmed up to 70-75 each day. There was some clouds in the sky early on and then by 11 or noon it was blue skies as far as you could see. It was gorgeous against the evergreen backdrop of Seattle (Washington is the "Evergreen State" after all.) We got to see and do sooo much. Our first full day in town we headed downtown to the Pike Street Market...the place is famous for the guys throwing fish. It was so cool to watch that and see some insanely large fish. I was also blown away by all the gorgeous flowers available at the market...huge, tropical, colorful arrangements from anywhere from $5-$20! As much as I love having fresh flowers in the house, that place would be dangerous to me if I lived there! We also checked out a "gum wall" which is exactly what it sounds like...a huge wall on the outside of a building covered in gum. Ewww. We had a nice lunch and beer overlooking the water (which is everywhere in Seattle and I love it!). We stopped by the very first Starbucks which opened in the early 1970's and now Seattle is home to I believe 417!!! But surprisingly...I never had it while there on my visit. We also spent some time just driving around and checking out cool neighborhoods and areas of the city.

We did so much that I really could go on forever and ever. We checked out a local brewery where they make Redhook beer (yum), went to The Bite of Seattle food festival, we did an awesome hike on Rattlesnake Ridge. 4 miles round trip and such a steep climb but thew view was so worth it. Tracy and I were kinda wimps as we were passed on the hike by 2 pregnant woman and numerous senior citizens...ouch...what a humbling experience to make us realize how out of shape we are :) Meanwhile...her 8 year old son, Jorden, literally skipped up the entire hike! ahhhh the beauty of youth!! We met up with some of Tracy and Morgan's friends a few nights for beers and debauchery...those always seem to go hand and hand. As well as just enjoyed time outside, chatting, eating, and drinking with her most gracious and sweet in-laws. Her mother-in-law is Norwegian and I was privy to enjoying some awesome, authentic meals. I think we drank more wine in 5 days than most people do in their entire life!!!

Lastly, Trace and I did the "Duck Tours" just google it. Pretty cool concept. The entire time I kept thinking about Vince Vaughn's character in "The Breakup". ha It was a great way to see the city "by land and water" and learn some interesting facts while being entertained by a lively tour guide who had no shame when it came to dancing and acting a fool. I highly recommend Ride the Ducks if it is ever available in a city you visit. Randomly, the company is based in my hometown of Norcross, GA and they even offer the tours at Stone Mtn. (not sure exactly how much there is to see there...but to each their own).

So I caught the red eye back to Atlanta and now it's back to humidity and hotness...13 days until the big move!!
