I Have a J-O-B

Well there isn't all that much to share except for I have a J-O-B!!!!!! They called today and left a message. I didn't pick up because I was sitting on the beach (posted a pic of my lovely view today) but when I came in for lunch I gave them a call. It is for the non profit company I have been interested in since February! They told me at my interview last week that is when I originally contacted them about my move etc. and they had kept my file handy and got in touch with me when I moved out here. So exciting! I will be working for SAY San Diego. The SAY part stands for Social Advocates for Youth. It's a nonprofit and I know I have talked about it before so I won't go on and on. But in case you are interested it is http://www.saysandiego.org/.

The hours are ideal...I will work 22 hours a week. MTTHF I work 2-6pm. On Wednesdays I will work 12-6. Every Wednesdays schools get out early so that is why I will work longer. To all my teacher friends...they have early release once week!!! Can you imagine? I will be working at Marie Curie Elementary School http://www.curiepta.org/ with the after school program. At the interview they told me I will be in charge of a group of 14-16 children working on homework, snack, enrichment activities etc. The school is only 7 miles from my apartment!! I am sooo excited to be back in a school working with kids but not in the traditional classroom setting. It will also be fun to be back with the younger kiddos. I did student teaching in 4th grade and it was awesome! That is why I went back and got my Master's in Early Childhood Education.

So excited to have my mornings for lazy days of watching Regis and Kelly, slowly sipping my coffee, walking Roxie, running errands, and even hitting the beach if I so please. I am not ruling out the possibility of another part time job in the a.m. but I won't venture there until I get settled in this job.

I head to Human Resources tomorrow to do a lot of paperwork and set up all my screenings (TB, Fingerprints, Drug test). I also have to get certified in CPR within my first 30 days of employment.

Things continue to be on the up and up in SoCal!
