What an amazing week I had in San Diego with my family!!! It is hard to believe their time here came and went so quickly :( I had such a great time showing them my new home and loving how much they enjoyed it as well.
They arrived on Tuesday the 5th and we ate an amazing dinner in Pacific Beach right on the ocean. A bottle of wine, some great seafood and great conversation and catching up. I absolutely loved the resort my family stayed at....so beautiful!
Wednesday was my birthday. It was hard turning 27 but I couldn't think of a better place or better people to spend it with...I will never forget spending my birthday in SoCal. We started off to a great breakfast in the SD neighborhood of Hillcrest. We ate at a place called Hash House where we ordered a pancake that was as big as a car tire! After that I had to head to work and my fam spent the day relaxing at the hotel. That night was a great Mexican dinner....shocker I know that I wanted Mexican and margaritas on my birthday. I also got to talk to, got cards from, texts etc. from so many important people in my life. It was truly wonderful to be remembered and it is rare I get to talk on the phone with work, time change etc. I am a lucky girl to have such amazing friends and family!!
Thursday we spent the morning walking around and shopping in PB as well as on the boardwalk and enjoying the gorgeous ocean views. Capped off with a rooftop lunch overlooking the water and then my family went on a trolley tour. My mom also arrived on Thursday night so we went and grabbed her from the airport. So wonderful to have my mom in town. She sent me gorgeous flowers on my birthday! She is the BEST!!
Friday was spent with the family walking around Mission Beach and getting Roxie out and about. My stepdad's family who lives out here came and took my family out to lunch and exploring while I had to work. Friday night my family cooked my traditional birthday dinner at my apartment and we enjoyed some down time. Oh how I miss my mom and Gran's home cooking :)
Saturday we headed to Coronado, La Jolla, got some time in by the pool, and then headed into the Gaslamp District for dinner. We sat outside on the patio and got some fabulous people watching in!!
Sunday was a great day on a wine country tour in Temecula, CA about an hour north and inland from my house. We had perfect weather and the best time sipping, tasting, and even eating grapes right off the vine! Unfortunately, my mom had to head back late Sunday night...so sad to see her go but so glad she got to visit.
Monday my Gran, Aunt, and I headed into the city and neighborhood of Little Italy for lunch. Before that I showed them 2 great little gems right in my neighborhood...Kate Sessions Park and Mt. Soledad. They then spent the day out and about in the city walking and exploring. One last dinner by the beach and then back to the hotel so they could get ready for their early Tuesday morning departure.
I am so spoiled to have such wonderful family. I know a lot of people out here who's families don't really visit or people who don't go home but once a year....the more you see how other people live etc. the more you appreciate the life and experiences you have. By no means is my family perfect but I am always thankful for the time we spend together, the closeness and bond we share, and the fact they love me enough to support my cross country move and relish in the experience with me! I look forward to many, many more visitors!
