HaHa--nobody hates this phrase "Livin the Dream" more than me. It is so, so, so over used. But if I was to use it...this weekend was about as close to Cali perfection as it gets. Most of my pics and posts involve the beach and Roxie...makes sense as the beach is the #1 reason I moved here and well Roxie is like my child :)
We finally got some cool down and relief from the warmer temperatures but I do have to remind myself it is October...hard to tell out here.
Friday was a great day at work! We had the luxury of watching the Blue Angels fly over our blacktop as they were preparing and practicing for the Miramar Air show this weekend...so cool! I think I was waayy more impressed and into them than the kids...as of course they have grown up in a military/Navy town. I am learning a lot of my students' parents are pilots or involved in the military in some capacity. Pretty cool. After work I headed to dinner with my friend Theone. She is the niece of my former coworker. We went to a great dive bar in Mission Beach.
Saturday and Sunday were spent on the picturesque island of Coronado, CA which is about 20 minutes from my house. I think I have probably talked about it before and it is constantly rated as one of the best beaches and communities in the world. I enjoyed a relaxing day of reading out by the pool while the kid I was babysitting had a friend over all day. They swam, played with Roxie, and of course played hours of video games! Such good and well behaved kids. Roxie also enjoyed having a yard, getting some fresh air, and letting her legs stretch. All of us ventured to Dog Beach on Coronado where Roxie ran and got in the ocean the farthest she has ever gone! She came back to the house soaked and filthy!! The boys and I ordered pizza as they ate AND simultaneously played video games..sheer talent :) What a fun age (5th grade)... independent enough to keep themselves occupied but also young enough to need a babysitter and someone to help them out and of course...they love to chat. I was never a big babysitter growing up and some would have questioned at one day in time if I even liked kids...but...goes to show you...things change when you get older!
Absolutely counting the minutes until my family arrives...2 months doesn't seem long to not have seen them but it is to me...especially when I am used to seeing them about once a week. I am excited to visit with them and just hope they see and appreciate why I love it so much out here. I wonder if they will think I am any different...doubt 2 months can change someone that quickly but you never know! I was already pretty laid back and chill so that is nothing new...maybe I have a little more confidence in myself and even more independence than I already had...who knows..I think what they will notice is that I am HAPPY and that is all that matters!
