Heat Wave

We have had a heat wave the past 3 or 4 days in San Diego and SoCal in general. There have been record breaking temperatures. Now most of you back home would be laughing at what they are calling a "heat wave" but admittedly you get really used to a pretty moderate and stable climate. Plus...without air conditioning if it gets above 80 outide it can be pretty miserable inside the apartment...and we are lucky here by the beach...literally 15-20 minutes away in a different part of town the weather can be so different.

We had popsicles and were misting the kids at work with water just to stay cool...as we are outside most of the day and again...inside isn't much cooler. Parents were picking up their kids early and already decked out in their swimsuits, ready to hit the beach. Ahhh...the perks of living in SoCal. I found myself finding any reason to get out of the house to find some relief....Jake and I went to the Padres game again on Monday night...just to be outside and well it is nearing the end of the season. I have also been sitting in our complex's courtyard with Roxie late into the night just to escape the heat.

Today I experienced my first thunder storm and I love it...the sounds of thunder and a little lightning are much welcomed after a 2 month absence. I have taken numerous warnings from people out here to drive with caution when it rains. Now of course I have driven in downpours and even had to pull over on the side of the road back home bc I couldn't see...I can't imagine it is that bad here. But little did I think about...bc it never rains..there is a ton of build up of oil etc. on the roads...so it can get quite slippery and slick. So, I to, will be driving slow and cautiously as a car crash would not be very fun.

I finally go and get my Cali driver's license tomorow. I had to make an appointment and I did so pretty much right when I arrived and Oct. 1st was the soonest appointment. Crazy huh? I have to take the written test which I have been semi reviewing. So I am sad to see the GA license go....but excited for a new picture and to be Cali legit. My license expires on my birthday in a few days so lets hope I pass tomorrow...otherwise I will be screwed!

I had my first softball game last night. My team won and we have some great people who can really play...starting to get nervous about my talents...time to brush up at the batting cage! haha

The fam arrives in less than a week!!! :)
