Memorial Day Weekend

A great 3 day weekend for sure! Friday was a gorgeous day and Roxie and I just enjoyed a long walk around the bay and a sunset. Homemade pecan crusted salmon and couscous for dinner and a chill Friday night all around.

Saturday Alicia and I headed to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It is about 20 minutes away in a town called Escondido, CA. It is an extension of the San Diego zoo. It was a cloudless day and gorgeous to be outside walking around and checking out all the animals. Loved the giraffes and elephants! After there we stumbled across a little winery that we stopped by for some tasting! Who doesn't love a vineyard/winery right? We then headed to Stone Brewery. I have been a couple of times but Alicia had never been so we enjoyed some yummy beer and delish appetizers! Fried mashed potato balls and a to die for Mac and Cheese dish! We continued with heading back to San Diego and ending our night in Ocean Beach at Pizza Port. A great little spot with local brews and great slices of pizza!

Sunday was a little cloudy and windy. I was pretty lazy for the majority of the day but my friend Alex did come over with her little pup Carmelle and we took the pups on a nice long walk around the bay. We got numerous compliments on our cute pups of course :) We then headed out to dinner in PB with some friends and then called it a night.

Monday I started off my day volunteering at the hospital. I was so happy I went because I spent 2 hours playing with 3 of the most adorable little kids who were so well behaved and so fun! Every time I leave Rady I feel like I am really doing something worthwhile, rewarding, and helpful...it is a great feeling and exactly what I had in mind when I decided I wanted to volunteer. After the hospital I ran home and quickly threw together some yummy Crunchy Asian Slaw (courtesy of a former coworker and the best secretary around..Mama Dupee). It is always such a hit at any party/house/cookout I take it to! I spent the rest of the day sitting out in the sun at Alex and Jason's just visiting with friends and enjoying the 70 degree and perfectly sunny day! We walked down to the beach to throw the frisbee and football for a bit, saw an amazing sunset and then headed back to Pizza Port for the second time this weekend for some pizza and beer.

All around a solid weekend. I can't believe month 10 of living in San Diego has come and gone. Officially about to start Summer in SoCal. Can't wait!!
