What a great visit with my Mom! She arrived Thursday morning and we headed right to the Nail Salon for some manis and pedis....it was wonderful and relaxing! I headed off to work shortly after and my Mom spent the afternoon resting and relaxing with Roxie. Normally I would head out for Cinco De Mayo but my Mom whipped up some yummy homemade guacamole and we enjoyed some Skinny Girl Ritas and a night of relaxing and catching up on some tv. I of course took her to a local and popular frozen yogurt shop to indulge in a SoCal favorite.
Friday morning we headed out to Palm Springs. Roxie stayed behind to spend the weekend at the apartment with my roommate. I always hate leaving Rox (especially 2 weekends in a row) but she always survives and usually gets a little spoiled and lots of love from her babysitters :) Palm Springs only took about 2 hours to get to...so nice that it is that close! We headed straight to a Mexican restaurant for some margaritas and lunch. Back to the hotel to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading by the pool. Our hotel was GREAT with a beautiful pool, great backdrop, and awesome location that allowed us to walk everywhere we needed to go. Friday night we headed to dinner at a yummy pizza place and then to a late movie and saw Something Borrowed. It was so good and I had read the book several years ago...love Kate Hudson of course and love the author of the book...Emily Giffin (local Atl girl).
Saturday we got up and checked out the Palm Springs Tram. It is a rotating tram that goes 2.5 miles up to the top of a mountain. There are only 2 other trams like this in the WORLD! The views were amazing and it was crazy to leave warm temperatures in the 90's at the bottom and reach the top to have temperatures in the 50's. It was so beautiful with not a cloud in the sky! The rest of Saturday was spent out by the pool taking in the sunshine and warm temps! Saturday night was another yummy dinner at a cute Italian place.
Sunday was Mother's Day. We enjoyed Mimosa's on the patio and then headed to breakfast at a local diner. A little more time by the pool and then off for a little site seeing. We went to a local Swap Meet in neighboring Palm Desert and then a local Cactus Garden. We hit the road and made a quick stop at the Outlet Malls before making our way back to San Diego.
A great trip out to the desert for sure and I know I will def. head back in the future! Sunday we saw another great movie...The Lincoln Lawyer. Highly recommend and who doesn't love Mathew McConaughey right?!?!
Unfortunately my Mom was under the weather so she spent her last day (Monday) sleeping and resting. Poor thing. We did manage to go out to dinner in PB at a favorite place of mine...World Famous. It has great food and an awesome view of the beach.
Tuesday was my Mom's last day. Breakfast in PB on the boardwalk overlooking the Pier and beach, a few photo ops. and we were off to the airport. Roxie def. misses having her Grandma around and I am always sad to see visitors leave. I have been so fortunate in 9 months to have so many people come and visit. Up next is a friend in June. He will be out here for a Bachelor Party but we have plans to at least meet up for lunch or Happy Hour one day. It will be nice to see a familiar face of course...as it always is.
My July visit will be here before I know it I am sure...as time seems to go by faster and faster. Excited that my friends and I will be heading to the Corey Smith concert while I am home!! YAY!
This weekend will be a busy one as well...some bars, some beers, and most importantly...some Zac Brown concert on Sunday!!
Cheers!
