Bootcamp...and More Babies!

Well...I guess we are just at that age now...friends getting married and friends having babies! Ahh...the late 20's....ugh...just typing that makes me feel old. So my friend Lauren and her husband Andrew had their second child on Sunday. Andrew "Drew" Albert Eriksen entered the world at 9:59am weighing 9lbs and measuring 21 1/4 inches long!!!! Mom and baby are both healthy and happy. Lauren didn't know the sex of her baby so it was a surprise to everyone. She already has a 2 1/2 year old little girl, Eliana...so now one of each...how awesome! I am hoping to make a day trip to Jacksonville in July to love on the newest Eriksen. I will definitely be making the baby rounds while back East. I will visit my friend Stephanie's son, Landon who will be about 5 months, then baby Sylvia who will be about 5 weeks, and then Drew who will be about 4 weeks! Been too long since I held a precious little one...can't wait!!

I finished my 3rd class of bootcamp today. Man...it is kicking my ass and quickly reminding me how out of shape I am. It is super frustrating that I have let myself gain weight over the years and get out of shape....who knew beer, margaritas, and Mexican food could do that?!? ;) So...this is the kick in the butt I need to jump start a more active lifestyle and eating better. After all...if you are over a size 6 in San Diego you are practically morbidly obese. I am not kidding...you really don't see many overweight people out here...very different than the South. So my friend Alicia and I are getting up and heading to work out at 6:15am MWF and if we are ever not hungover or busy....9am on Saturdays :) The class is held about a mile from my house...right on Mission Bay so the setting is absolutely gorgeous. The instructor is nice and motivating...and man does he already know my name...I still haven't determined if that is a good thing or not! But in 3 short classes I can already tell a difference in my endurance level and I am going to stick with it! We paid $50 for unlimited classes for a month...a killer deal. I am hoping when the class is over I will either join a gym or do another one...I refuse to go back to being a couch potato.

So..yesterday was my first day of Summer and it felt great. A little dog park, a little sun, some magazines, some much needed and long overdue catching up on the phone with friends, some margaritas (I mean...just because I am in bootcamp doesn't mean I have totally changed people), and some errands of course. Today should be another relaxing day...grabbing some great books at the library to help me plan my trip to Oregon in August.

Here's to being active and enjoying Summer in SoCal!!
