Well the first night at the apartment was fine! It will take getting used to the noise and open windows that is for sure....I am such a light sleeper I am either gonna need to invest in Ambian or earplugs. Roxie, did great actually and did not bark at all...I totally expected her to! We got up and went on a nice walk around the new neighborhood. It is so nice to walk her and not sweat or have her panting because she is so overheated. Then...I got ready for my interview at The Gillipsie School. It is a ritzy private school in La Jolla. I was panicking bc I wasn't sure if I had even packed my interview clothes or not. I had a dress that worked and I made it to the interview with no worries. The assistant principal showed me around and he was super nice! We talked informally as I got the tour and one of the first things he said to me was "Wow, you have no accent at all!" I know people...I don't wear overalls, I have all my teeth and my family tree actually splits and has branches...the South is not a 3rd world country ya know? ;) I think people forget sometime how big of a city Atlanta is. So they put me on the sub list and I have to do the fingerprinting and TB test but other than that I am good to go! He was also super helpful in referring me to other local private schools for more subbing opportunities.
After the interview I headed to lunch with my stepdad's Aunt and Uncle who live out here and have for about 40 years. They are probably around my Gran's age. We went to a cool Hibachi place and it was nice talking with them. It will be nice to have some family out here and they have grandkids my age so maybe we will eventually meet as well.
My brother also arrived tonight. He was originally slated to get here around 3pm but he missed his flight so he got in at 8pm. I got him from the airport and we headed to a quick dinner before dropping him off at the hotel to stay with my mom.
Tomorrow is another interview, possibly the beach and who knows what else...I guess just learning my way around the city and entertaining my family.
Still sooo much I want to do to feel settled but it is slowly feeling like home!
