Another great day in my new city. I picked up my mom and brother after they enjoyed a nice brunch right on the beach in Pacific Beach. We then headed over to Coronado which is an island just a few miles from San Diego http://www.coronado.ca.us/ it's a picturesque community with shops, cool places to eat and a gorgeous beach...it also has a huge Navy base on the island. I spent a lot of time there back in June when I visited. We enjoyed just walking around and taking in the gorgeous beach and views of the city across the water.
After Coronado we headed to Old Town San Diego http://www.oldtownsandiegoguide.com/. Again...just walked around. It's funny...San Diego isn't that touristy as far as soooo much to see and do...it is simply just nice to be outside at parks and walking because it's so pleasant weather wise. We ate Mexican and enjoyed some refreshing margaritas of course.
Dropped my mom off at the hotel and then Chris, Roxie and I headed to Mission Bay Park http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/parks/missionbay/ this is really close to my house and HUGE! They had a place called Fiesta Island where dogs are allowed to be off of their leashes so we of course had to check it out. It was a massive area fenced off for dogs to run and also get in the water. I know Roxie and I will be back often. It was cool to watch wind surfers as well and even a water skier go off a huge ramp! I imagine many hours can be spent just people watching. We saw a lot of families setting up grills, bonfires, and chairs for a nice evening by the water. Again...most people are finding some way to be outdoors around here. Lucky for me Roxie gives me a good excuse to go exploring.
No Padres game tonight as I read the schedule wrong and they are up in San Francisco :( Instead we headed to a movie (The Other Guys) for a relaxing night before my mom and brother head out tomorrow bright and early for a long day of travel back to Atlanta. My roommate also heads out tomorrow for a business trip to Chicago for about 5 days. It will give Roxie and I some time to work around the apartment getting settled and organized without disrupting Lauren (roomy) too much. I am sure she will appreciate that :)
I am so looking forward to a lazy weekend of watching tv, going to the beach, and reading books.
