An Apple A Day...

I headed back to Julian, Ca today with some girlfriends. I had visited this cute town last year around Thanksgiving...it was cold, gray, and I was by myself. It was great then and of course I sampled some yummy apple pie but it is always nice to have some good company come along!

We headed up and it was a perfect blue sky, cloudless day with temps in the mid 70's. We did an easy walk/hike for an hour or so around winding paths, a lake, and just enjoyed chatting and being outdoors. We then headed to an Apple Orchard. For 10 dollars you got a bag to fill and the experience of picking organic, pesticide free apples. Of course we did plenty of taste testing while in the orchard. It was awesome except for having to watch out for worms of course...gross.

We then wandered around a few antique stores before finding our way back into town to stop by and have a slice of apple pie...with cinnamon ice cream on top of course!

Now the question is...what to do with all of the apples? I quickly whipped up a batch of Tracy's yummy Chicken/Apple salad....always nice on some toasted bread or by itself and super easy! I am thinking tomorrow it will be all about apple turnovers or an apple pie! Being that it is my favorite fruit and I literally eat an apple a day...I am sure they won't go to waste!

Love that I live at the beach but within in an hour can be in the mountains in what feels like a whole nother world. California is such an amazing state.
