I am not one that would consider myself to always have good luck...while I also don't consider myself to have bad luck either...I just kinda fall somewhere in the middle. I certainly have nothing to complain about, my friends and family are healthy, and I get to live the life I want in the exact way I want to. So...I consider myself fortunate and definitely a positive person. That being said...I am considering myself insanely lucky this week!!
My car has been acting kinda funny the past few months but I tried to ignore it because car trouble is rarely cheap and it is of course inconvenient to be without transportation. Then a few days ago my "Service Engine Soon" light came on. That was a sign that it was no longer unavoidable and I had planned on taking my car this weekend. Well on Tuesday night I got in my car to leave and it would barely move. It took forever to go from 0-20mph and just acted so weird. For fear of getting stranded somewhere I made arrangements to take it into the dealership first thing Wednesday morning. Well.............soooooooo glad I did! Turns out my car needs $8,000.00 worth of repairs...the radiator busted, leaked and ruined the transmission, and reeked all other kinds of havoc on my car. YIKES!!! It gets better...turns out back about 6 years ago when I bought my car I purchased an extended warranty plan encouraged by my Dad. At the time...an extra $1200.00 seemed like a lot but I went ahead and did it. Well I am thanking my lucky starts (and my Dad) today for that because the entire $8000.00 (minus a 50 dollar fee) will be covered thanks to that extended warranty!!! Oh and it gets even better...the warranty expires on October 20th! Is that not crazy?!?!? Had I put it off a little longer and I might not be so positive and would probably be a little more pessimistic. Oh and that lovely plan ALSO gives me a rental car free of charge for the time my car is in the shop. Win/win situation for sure!
Once my car gets all of the repairs...it should be good to go for years to come...a brand new transmission is almost like getting a brand new car (without the beauty of new car smell of course).
I think I just might buy a lottery ticket today! One friend said it well " Life never works that way! You must be living right!"
So nice of her to say...I really do try to think of others, pay it forward, be positive, and do for others...maybe this is my "Thank You" although unnecessary...I will gladly take it. And my bank account appreciates it too.
